COMPASSIONATE GOD
"If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?" Psalm 130:3 Can we imagine God's standard of Holiness, righteousness and perfection! None of us could ever meet that standard, no matter how hard we try. Nevertheless, the psalmist goes on to say, "But there is forgiveness with You, that you may be feared." God says that He will not remember our sins any more if we confess our sins to Him and accept Him as personal Savior. When we think of the sin King David did by committing adultery with Bathsheba we can not think of any reason why God would not forgive our sins. David was blessed one, God chose him to be King, yet one day when [2Sam 11th Chapter] saw from the roof of his home, a beautiful woman named Bathsheba washing herself. David sent messengers and took her, and committed sin with her. He did not end his iniquity there but conspired and got her husband, Uriah, killed in the battle. God punished David for his sin; his son through Bathsheba died, and David had to pay great penalty for his sin; yet when David repented of his sin, He had compassion on him and forgave him, and restored him. Hebrews 8:12 "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more". Psalms 103:10-14 "He has not dealt with us according to our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust". Did you realize that you have failed to meet God's standard?
