Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
the end of the world. Amen.
Goodness
Galatians Chapter5 vs. 22 to
26
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with
its passions and desires.
25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. In addition to good ness the
fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The fruits of the
Spirit seem to be very hard to acquire by a normal person. Nevertheless,
for those who live in Christ, they are not as hard as they seem to be. Indeed,
it not easy to be good to everyone all the time. It is a term which
carries boundless meaning. Except that He was angry when someone worked
against God, Jesus Christ was seen as good to everyone and in all
respects and at all time. He was straightforward and angry when he saw
merchants selling their products in the worship place. This was
certainly NOT an area where goodness was to be shown. Goodness does not
mean to be good to be bad or support bad. To be bad or support bad is
evil and not goodness. There is a clear demarcation between good and
evil. One cannot be good to all, especially to evil. Jesus Christ was
good not only in respect of healing the sick, providing food for the
hungry, but he was good to the extent of offering His own life for our
sake, so that we may not go to hell.
The experience of being saved through the blood of Jesus Christ shows
in us, the love for others, joy within ourselves, and joy to be in
fellowship with friends, fellow-believers, colleagues, and also to our
nearest relatives. The goodness that we possess also
produces within us to have patience rather than hurriedly doing things,
or quarrel with others. Kindness is another area, which Jesus
always emphasized and here in this passage, Apostle Paul writes about it
in his letter to Galatians. Jesus asked us to go an extra mile
with some one, who is in need of our help, or clothe some one, who is in
need of it.
A search for the word,
"good" in Bible shows that the word occurs 685 times. The word,
"good" appears seven times in Genesis Chapter 1 alone.
Whatever God created was good. He created light, which was good.
He created dry land, earth, which was good. Earth brought forth
herbs and fruit yielding trees which was good. He created Sun,
Moon, Stars and the galaxy, which was good. He created whales and living
creatures, which was good. He Created beast of the field, which was
good. After that God created man to possess all these good
things.
God calls us to be good in
moral values and also good in dealing with others. God is good and
he expects us to be good. Apostle Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always
having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" and
in Philippians 2:13 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and
to do of his good pleasure."
It is by accepting this fact that
Jesus Christ died in place of us, and accepting Him as Lord and Savior
that we obtain salvation. It is this assertion that procures us a place
in heaven. He has not only shown us that Worship place is holy, but also
shown us that it is not to be used for any purpose, other than what it
is for, i.e. WORSHIP. Let us ask Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with the
love of God and to bear the fruit of sprit i.e. GOODNESS. As soon as
Holy Spirit fills our hearts, we will do what comes from the fruit of
the spirit.
The results of Spirit of God living in us are shown in the form of
being good to others. Jesus Christ is rightly called as "good teacher".
It is not just some good work that we do, which matters, but it is being
good to all at all the times, just as Jesus was, that matters. We are privileged
because God lives in us; that is why the true followers of Jesus Christ
are able to show goodness, which is a fruit of the Spirit.
Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if
any one is in Christ he is new creature. It is true then, that
when Christ lives in us, we will have the nature of his goodness in us
and if it is otherwise, we have no Christ in us.
God has shown us his goodness by
sending His one and only son, that who ever believes in him will not
perish but have eternal life. JESUS CHRIST WAS GOOD TO ME, HE IS GOOD TO ME, AND HE WILL BE GOOD TO
ME. God has brought me out for a reason. I survived because he has a
plan for me.
Dear brother/sister,
If you have not yet thought about working for our Lord Jesus Christ,
this is the time you think about it seriously. And If you have not yet accepted Lord Jesus Christ as your personal
Savior until now, you have lost much time. You may not get another
opportunity to repent of your sins. Today is the right time for you to
confess your sins to Jesus Christ. Please yield to Him.
