THEY LABOR IN VAIN

“Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain that build it: unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman wakes, but in vain.” Psalms 127:1

They Labor in vain

Please read the following verses.

The authorship of this Psalm is disputable, yet most Christians believe that Solomon is the author of this Psalm. King Solomon expositions in this Psalm how man’s works are futile if only God does not take care of him and his affairs. The king would have felt personally in his own life, while building the temple and in various other matters in his life. He was the wisest person on this earth among any one who ever lived on this world and was endowed with blessings from God When God asked him what he desired to have for himself, Solomon preferred wisdom rather than gold and silver. He knew that if he had wisdom first the riches of this world will follow him.

King Solomon would have felt in his life most remarkable experiences that unless the Lord builds his destiny and watches over his affairs everything will be in vain. Great men who followed the path of Christianity have acknowledged this fact that unless Lord watches over the affairs of men, the efforts will go in vain. When we depend upon God and allow him to take care of our burden things will go so smooth that the results that we achieve will be surprising to ourselves.

The promises in this Psalm 127 go beyond just building the house and watching over the affairs of men. The promises extend to the provision of wonderful children God would provide to Christian believer, and the way he could boast of his children in the midst of others.

Citing the joy that the fowls of the air have in depending upon God, for their food, which, they get from the Father in heaven, even when they do not sow, nor when they do reap, or gather any food in to barns, Jesus said, when we work for the Lord, and depend upon him for every need, he will show the ways to have his mercy and be happy in life.  Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?."  Indeed it is vain for us to wake up early and go late to bed without God being our sovereign ruler. It is obvious that God gives sleep and peace of mind to his children when they cast the burden on him. He takes care of us.

Jesus was the incarnation of the “Father” Himself and was God Himself in human form. He was divine and Human on this earth. He was the second person in the Trinity, which is Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, three in One and not three gods. Jesus was also referring in this chapter that He Was, He is, and He will be for ever. (Ref: Exodus 3:14) He was also mentioning here that the disciples are now competent to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ when they will be scattered after His death and resurrection.

Salvation is available freely for all who believe in Jesus Christ, confess his/her sins to Him, and accept Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and acknowledge Him as his/her Lord.

Today is the day of salvation. Please confess your sins to Jesus Christ and be blessed. Receive Salvation and eternal life. Jesus is the Way, the truth, and the life.

God bless you.
