PETER'S DENIAL

But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." And a little later some one else saw him and said, "You also are one of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not." And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, "Certainly this man also was with him; for he is a Galilean."

See! how this staunch believer of Jesus Christ denied Him

But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying." And immediately, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the cock crows today, you will deny me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.

Nevertheless, Jesus loved Peter most. Peter is a perfect example of human weakness. He boasted saying that he would not deny Jesus Christ, but failed in his word. Jesus knew his weakness and foretold him that Peter would deny three times before cock crows. Once, when Jesus told His disciples that He is going to suffer on the cross, Peter was the first man to console Jesus Christ, that such a thing should not happen. But then Jesus said, if He does not suffer for mankind they would not have salvation, and therefore, said, "get thee Satan, behind me." The words that Peter spoke were from Satan. Satan was speaking cunningly that Jesus Christ should not suffer. At another incident, Peter drew his sword and cut off one of the ears of one of those who were trying to arrest Jesus Christ. Jesus said that if He wants He could ask His Father in heaven to send legions of angels to fight for Him, but if did so, how would mankind have salvation!

Do not be afraid, believer, if you have denied Jesus Christ or committed sins, the blood of Jesus Christ is there to forgive you of all your sins. Repentance makes all the difference. Jesus Christ loves you; confess your sins to HIM. He is waiting for you to open the doors of your heart for HIM. Backsliding is there in everyone’s life. That does not mean you should give up for ever, following Jesus Christ.

God bless you
