GOD IS MY REFUGE
PSALM 46:1,7,11 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."..."The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge."...The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." I remember how God was my refuge and a present help in trouble when I returned on vacation, when I was serving Indian Air Force, to take examinations in three papers to be qualified for B.Sc. It was simply unbelievable but true happening in my life. I missed the Time Table of the University because I could not get vacation on time, and when I got vacation I thought of visiting my native place and also try to take the examinations. When I arrived at my native place I found that the University had already conducted the examinations for B.Sc. at that place and I had no chance of taking the examination that year. I was standing under tree pining over the situation and the sad happening, and it appeared as if I lost all the hope of being graduated that year. Indeed I saw the ‘present help’ from my God. The Registrar of the University was passing by the place where I was standing and inquired of me why I was sad and standing there. I explained to him that I was in the war front when the examinations were going on and that resulted in my foregoing the opportunity to take the examinations that year. The registrar immediately asked me to go along with him to his chamber. I went along with him to his chamber and sat down before him. He found that examination for one paper could be arranged for me at a distant district and one in the same college where I studied and the third one in the University complex. I agreed to his plan, took the examinations and graduated that year. Thank God. When I think of the way the last examination was arranged for me in the University for me alone, I simply can not believe the miracle that happened in my life, but it is true. It happened and I graduated. Later in my life I did my M.A.The psalmist depends upon God. He reposes entire confidence and faith in the LORD of hosts, who delivered Israelites out of Egypt, from the bondage of slavery. He believes that our God is the perfect rock of refuge. He is worth depending upon. He delivers us from all our troubles. It is indeed worth depending upon the living God, "who is a very present help in trouble, and therefore, we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;" Dear Fiend, Are you still waiting for some other help? Here is a very present help. Believe in Jesus Christ, and cast all your care upon Him. He will deliver you from all your troubles.
Salvation is available freely for all who believe in Jesus Christ, and confess his/her sins to Him, and accept Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and also acknowledge Him as his/her Lord.
