 RESURRECTION

Luke 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Luke 24:1-11 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words, And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

Brother/Sister,

Mary Magdalene and Mary, mother of James were eager to see Jesus Christ on the third day after His death. They rushed to the tomb where Jesus was buried early in the morning, and saw the stone rolled away. They were worried; then came two men in white dazzling apparel to console them that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead and He is not to be sought any more among the dead. He is alive! Yea! He is a living God. Praise the Lord. We have a living God. He is the God of gods, He is the King of kings, He is the Lord of Lords. Let us worship Him in Spirit and truth.

The question initially was who will roll away the stone?

This was a bothering question a believer had, a believer who saw Jesus Christ; a believer who was with another believer at the time of her asking this question.

This believer is none other than “Mary Magdalene”. You may wonder that she was relieved from seven demons. It was Jesus who delivered her from seven demons. It was Jesus who she believed in. It was Jesus who she moved with and acknowledged as Savior. What did then bother her to doubt?

Please read from Mark 16th Chapter vs. 1 to 4

"Vs.1 And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. Vs.2 And very early in the morning the first [day] of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. Vs.3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? Vs.4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great"

We read here Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, going to the tomb where Jesus was laid.  At the site, they found the stone already rolled away.

Who rolled away the stone?

After Pilate had delivered Jesus Christ to be crucified, Jesus was crucified, buried in a tomb and a great stone was rolled over it, closed it and sealed it, so that no one could steal the body of Jesus and then say Jesus was risen. All the accusers believed that Jesus Christ will rise on the third day. That is the reason why they rolled a great stone over the tomb of Jesus and sealed it. It was also ordered that the tomb be guarded so that no one could steal the body of Jesus.

But then, as per the prophecy and as Jesus told beforehand, he rose from the dead and went to Galilee before Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James reached the tomb.

Jesus had told that he will rise on the third day, and yet these two missed the timing very badly. Not only this, but before they reached the tomb, they had a great doubt, as to who will role away the stone? What is this kind of doubt to be treated as? Is it unbelief? Is it fickle mindedness, or just a joke?

It was not a joke and unbelief either. It is just a doubt. It may be just a doubt any one of us would have when we are in confused mind, or in troubles. We also doubt if Jesus would really help us in trouble. Our troubles seem big for us. We forget that with Jesus Christ nothing is impossible.

If only the resurrection of Jesus was not true Christianity would not have prospered so much as we see today of them.  It is foolishness to search for his bones in Ossuaries.  Jesus took his bones with him.  He showed his body to doubting Thomas.  There are many doubting ones like that of Thomas today in this world.  There are also people, who are discrediting Lord Jesus Christ.  No one will be able to dishonor Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Every knee will bow before Him one day or the other.

Believe in Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as your personal savior today.  Praise is to our God in the name of Jesus Christ His Son.

God bless you
